Why Is Gratitude a Great Friend For a Beautiful Life?

Every day I wake up, I walk into the ocean. Every day I wake up, I watch the sunrise before me. Even when it is raining, the sun still shines. Even when I am feeling low, the sun still burns a hole through my damaged ego and into my soul. It is so easy for me to complain. It is so easy for me to see the glass half full. When I look around and I notice the other guy has a prettier wife and a bigger car, I can feel less than. But this is not who I am. This mind. And mind, wants me always searching for more. I am happiest when I accept, I have everything I need, and the universe will always manifest everything I want. As long as my intention is to serve the universe and not my ego. This is a universal law. I am here to serve.

When the world seems to be against me. When all is lost. The strong get stronger. And the weak get weaker. I have a decision to make every day. Who do I want to be today? Am I defeated or am I an inspiration to my children, family and those who are around me? This is the question. How do I become a better human? Just for today. Gratitude is my greatest friend, in the adventure we all call life. I was told to write a gratitude list every day. just write down 3 things you are grateful for and feel the change within the system. This is a bio-hack. It does not work immediately, but implemented every day, consistently, this simple practice can change the direction of a life. At least once a week, I take myself out of my comfort zone for a gratitude walk. I agree to be present during the walk. No headphones, no phones, no children. Just me and life. I concentrate on the beat of my heart, and I agree with myself, and my higher power that I am grateful to be alive. Just for today. Another way to connect with the frequency of love and joy is to write a letter to someone I love. If they are alive I read the letter to them. If they have passed, I burn the letter late at night under the stars. I also journal. Not every day but most days. I ask my inner child how he is feeling? I write the question out with my right hand, and I let my inner child respond by writing the response with my left hand. This is bio-hack. My last advice is to never underestimate the Ukulele. I purchased a UKE last year and I have never looked back. When people hear the tones from this tiny little instrument, they instantly smile and fall in love with life. If you do not believe, come over and try it out. The Ukulele is a bio-hack.

You get the point though: We can think about the same experience in many different ways. If we are grateful, we positively change our perspective on the events in our lives.

  • Gratitude Journal. At its simplest, just write down 3 things you are grateful for each night.

  • Five Minute Journal. Answer three questions each morning and two before bed.

  • Gratitude Walk. Be very present and feel gratitude for everything you see and experience during that short walk. Try to feel the gratitude in your heart.

  • Gratitude Visit. Write a letter (300 words) of love and gratitude to someone important to you. Set up a time to meet them, then take out the letter and read it to them. Transformative.

Gratitude is a daily practice, similar to meditation. Like meditation, it becomes more natural over time. In fact, gratitude and meditation go very well together, like peanut butter and jelly.

Remember: What you put into your body affects what you get out. In this case, your thoughts create the world you experience. If you put the gratitude in, you get gratitude out.
